Vesa graduated from University of Art and Design Helsinki in graphic design. Vesa studied architecture in Tampere University of Technology. Vesa was honoured with ADC Young Guns award in 2011.

Helen Friel’s work with paper makes me want to stop what I’m doing and take a class in paper art. I’m not sure if it’s my chubby child hands or just a lack of general dexterity, but I’ve never been able to master delicate paper cutting in a way that leads to incredible artwork like this :

More unusual gears to start your week. A few years ago, there was a video of an impossibly cool animated paper-craft heart composed of gears by artist, Haruki Nakamura. Here is some fascinating time lapse footage showing the sculpture being assembled. I continue to be amazed by this mechanical paper marvel. I would love to know how this was designed.
